Our Mission
Hoops 4 Heroes aims to provide children of incarcerated parents with an outlet through the game of basketball. We aspire to build meaningful experiences for the kids by hosting camps centered around fostering a love for sports, teaching lessons about basketball and life, creating a sense of community, and inspiring them to work to achieve their dreams.
how We Started
In the fall of 2018, the Goeas family heard from a Prison Ministries speaker while at church, who talked about a clinic they ran alongside the Detroit Lions for kids with incarcerated parents. His inspiring sermon motivated them to join the cause. After months of planning and support from friends and family, Robert and Ed approached the Thunder–Oklahoma City’s professional basketball team–and were generously granted twenty spots in their upcoming skills camp to provide to kids with incarcerated parents. Hoops 4 Heroes hosted their first camp in June 2019, using admission to the Thunder camp as a base and building it into a meaningful 5-day overnight experience for the campers.
